To register for this Master program during the online application, please choose the following options:

  • "Master's programme in English (diploma contract)"
  • "Faculty of Engineering"
  • "1st yr. Master of Engineering: Electrical Engineering (ICT)"
* The EE (ICT) program

The program assumes that the student has a basic knowledge in electrical engineering (e.g. basic transistors and logic design, digital signal processing, systems and control, etc.). The Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (ICT) program gives the student an in depth training on many ICT related topics, which are organized in three main categories:

* Integrated electronics (analog and digital design, computer architectures, and system-on-chip design).
* Multimedia and signal processing (advanced DSP, multimedia technology).
* Telecommunication (mobile & wireless communications, coding, security and cryptography).

The master thesis project is made in close cooperation with the ongoing research in the Electrical Engineering Department. It exposes the student to the latest research topics in these fields.

* Objective of the Master

The Master of Engineering: Electrical Engineering (ICT) program offers a comprehensive set of courses to give the students a foundation to create the next generation electronic systems. Building e.g. a next generation wireless system-on-chip, requires a multi-disciplinary approach. It needs an understanding of the multimedia applications running on it, the telecommunication techniques applied to realize the wireless links and it needs the necessary design skills to realize the integrated system-on-chip.

The university campus is integrated in the city of Leuven.
The engineering campus is located in the park of the Arenberg castle. The city also hosts a large number of high-tech companies.

About the University of Leuven: Founded in 1425 by Pope Martin V, K.U.Leuven bears the double honour of being the oldest existant Catholic university in the world and the oldest university in the Low Countries. At present, K.U.Leuven caters to more than 31,000 students, around 12% of whom are international students from more than 120 nations. K.U.Leuven ranks among the top ten European universities in terms of its scholarly output.

About ESAT: The electrical engineering department (ESAT) is the largest department within the university and has been the starting point of IMEC and many spin-off companies. It is a highly regarded research institution with many researchers being in the fore-front of their field worldwide.
