Introduction session

An introduction session will be organised on Monday September 25th, 15.00h in the Jozef Heuts auditorium (00.215) of the Landbouwinstituut, the main building of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering. The Landbouwinstituut is situated in the Kasteelpark Arenberg in Heverlee. A route desription to the Landbouwinstituut can be found here.

Crash course English

International students enrolling for the programme are strongly encouraged to upgrade their English language skills in the crash courses that are offered by the K.U.Leuven Institute of Modern Languages (Instituut voor levende talen, ILT). More information on these crash courses can be found here

Who to contact?

For general problems you can contact Mrs. Greta Camps .
For problems that are related to the examinations (e.g. when you get sick or in case of irregularities DURING THE EXAMS), you can contact the ombuds ladies: Karen Lemmens and Esther Venmans

Curriculum

The program is adapted to students with strongly different background (either biological or mathematical). A first module (comprising the first 6 weeks) aims at giving an overview of the field of knowledge that the student is least familiar based on his/her curriculum. A second, common module gives a more advanced overview of the field of bioinformatics.

Parallel Modules

Introductory module of 6 weeks (covers a total of 150 h, 15 study points) in biochemistry-genetics or information-technology. Depending on their previous curriculum students are required to take one of the parallel modules. Students are allowed to propose other coherent programs that meet their goals, as long as their personal program is conform to the basic requirements of the standard program. The personal program needs to be approved by the steering committee, responsible for the organization of the program.

Module: Biochemistry-Genetics
